Shobhabazar Rajbari

This is one among the oldest royal houses of Kolkata. The Shobhabazar Rajbari was built by Raja Nabakrishna Deb, one of the prominent aristocrats of Kolkata. Built in the middle of 1700, this mansion follows the architecture named Saat-Khilan-Thakurdalan. It consists of an open courtyard in the middle of the buildings, which was used for conducting functions on different occasions. It is a heritage site of Kolkata depicting the old Zamindari era.

The Marble Palace

Marble Palace is a 19th century mansion built by Raja Rajendra Mullik. As its name suggests, the whole palace is made up of marble. This palace is filled with western paintings and sculpture of famous artists and thinkers and antiques such as clocks, urns, etc. This palace follows the Thakur-Dalan architecture. The building consists of a music room and a ballroom. Accompanied with a rock garden and a lake, this is one of the most beautiful palaces of Kolkata.

Jorasanko Thakurbari

Popularly known as ‘Jorasanko Thakurbari’, this castle is Rabindranath Tagore’s ancestral house. Spread across an area of 35000 square meters, it was built in 1785. It has now become a museum, which preserves the pictures and paintings of Rabindranath Tagore and his family, and the gifts and achievements received by the Nobel Prize winner. The colonial building and exquisite architecture are very impressive. This castle is located near Girish Park in Chittaranjan Avenue.

Laha Bari

Laha Bari, located near Thanthania Kalibari, was the house of Raja Kristo Dass Laha. This palace has been organising Durga Pooja for more than 200 years for which it is famous for. This beautifully built mansion is known for its porticos verandas and stained glass windows.
